Seymour History Bulletin November 2008

November 28th, 2008

A Message from the President

Bill Collar

It was a busy summer for the Seymour Community Historical Society. We had over 1,200 visitors to the museum this summer. Our records indicate we had people from all over Wisconsin and from as far away as Madison, Kenosha, Superior, and Rhinelander. Eleven states were represented including IL, MN, MI, ID, MO, NB, OK, IA, FL, and CA.

Music in the Park was a big hit with a total attendance of 3,607 for 15 concerts. John and Lynn Koenigs did an outstanding job lining up the talent. The Burger Fest was the best ever, as 675 guests toured the museum. The memorial for Rita Gosse is nearing completion. The fountain is in, pavers have been laid, and landscaping is finished. All that is needed are a few final details.

Thank you to Holly Collar, Pat Seidl, Lucille Miller, and La Mont Kraft for providing the special temporary exhibits this summer. We concluded the summer season with a Nature’s Edge photography exhibit accompanied by a glass of wine, cheese, nuts, and chocolates. Kraft, a longtime Seymour resident, travels throughout Wisconsin exhibiting his work in art fairs. Eighty-six people participated in the event.
